I grew up in Hubbards & have fond memories walking everywhere.

Some of my favourites include our walks to Queensland’s beach, not so much the walk home, after a day at the beach and having to walk up Haggard's Hill.

I remember a large group of children on our street (Conrad’s branch, and than again on Conrad’s road) getting together nightly and playing in each other’s yards. We all attended Shatford, and our parents felt safe letting us walk to each other’s houses. As things stand now, I can’t imagine the same luxury for my kids living on the main road without sidewalks.

I’ve always had dreams of returning with my family, to be able to offer my children a happy childhood filled with outdoor activities and a small school environment.

Returning as a parent, is different, my fiancé and I made an effort to walk everywhere, however since moving again, this time to the main road, we don’t feel safe doing so. We would love to walk to the beaches, rec. center and barn but with two double strollers and a puppy it’s just not possible. As it stands now, there’s no room for us to safely walk around our neighborhood.

We are an active family who have been used to going for a nightly walk, the kids get some fresh air, the pup gets a walk and Pete and I get to relax. It was one of the big draws to moving back home.

The Hubbards Streetscape Project means a lot to us, we want to see it become a reality. Keep up the great work Hubbards, our voices will be heard!
