Hello! My name is Carrie Nelson (Simms), and I fully support this initiative to help beautiful Hubbards become a safer place with sidewalks.

I spent my entire childhood in Hubbards and I’m happy to say that my family and I are moving back!! My husband, Craig Nelson and I have two young girls who are 5 and 7 years old. Our 7 year old Is constantly asking questions and just the other day she asked one that I wanted to share with all of you. As we were driving through Halifax, this is what came from the back seat, “Mom, why don’t we have sidewalks? We really should have them so we are safe”. Now if that’s not a big enough reason to make this happen, I don’t know what is? Our young children should ALWAYS feel safe and I shouldn’t have to explain why our community isn’t as safe as others. As a child growing up in Hubbards I always wondered why my parents worried so much when I would bike or walk around the community. Now as a mother myself, I totally understand! Without sidewalks I will always be worried about our girls on the roads. Hubbards has so much to offer and as a young family we would love to bike and walk, to not only support local businesses, but to explore its beauty.

Let’s make this happen!!
